Russia announces search and capture of Zelensky

Moscow (EFE).- Russia announced this Saturday that it is searching for and capturing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The official Russian agency TASS reported that the Ukrainian president was included in the Russian Interior Ministry’s list of wanted and held persons.

The ministry said Zelensky was wanted in connection with a crime under the Russian Criminal Code, without giving further details.

Also this Saturday, Russia announced the discovery and capture of former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, who served as head of state between 2014 and 2019.

Authorities have previously issued arrest warrants for other senior Ukrainian officials.

In December last year, the Russian Interior Ministry searched for and detained the head of Ukraine’s military intelligence (GUR) Kirill Budanov, after the Russian Investigative Committee initiated criminal proceedings against him and three other Ukrainian servicemen.

Last April Budanov was arrested in absentia by a Russian judge on terrorism charges.

International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrant against Putin

Russia, whose President Vladimir Putin has an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court that finds him responsible for war crimes for the illegal deportation of children from Ukraine, has also sought and detained politicians from EU countries. Is.

On 13 February, Russia announced this measure against the Prime Minister of Estonia, Kaja Kallas, as well as several officials and representatives of Latvia and Lithuania.

According to Russian authorities, search and arrest warrants were adopted against the head of the Estonian government and other Baltic politicians because of the destruction and damage caused to monuments of Soviet soldiers in Estonia.
