Season 2 of Interview with the Vampire will air on AMC in May.

Feb. 7 (UPI)— Interview with a Vampire will return for a second season in May.

AMC shared the May 12 premiere date and teaser trailer for the dark fantasy series’ second season on Tuesday during the Television Critics Association press tour.

Interview with a Vampire based on the novel of the same name by Anne Rice. The show takes place in 2022 as vampire Louis de Pointe du Lac (Jacob Anderson) recounts his life in early 20th century New Orleans in an interview with journalist Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian).

The film also stars Sam Reid, Asad Zaman and Delaney Hales. David Costabile will join the cast in season two as Leonard, a veteran TV presenter who has a run-in with Molloy.

In the new season, Louis (Anderson) will remember his adventures in Europe, including the search for Old World vampires and the Vampire Theater in Paris.

AMC also announced that Mayfair WitchesTV series based on Rice’s novel Lives of the Witches of Mayfair book trilogy, began production on an eight-episode second season in New Orleans.

Mayfair Witches The story centers on Rowan Fielding (Alexandra Daddario), a neurosurgeon who discovers that she is the heir to a family of powerful witches. The heroine will have to fight the demon Lasher (Jack Huston), whose presence has haunted her family for several generations.

Alyssa Jirrells will join the cast of season two as a series regular, Ted Levine will appear as a series regular, and Thora Birch will appear as a recurring guest star. Jirrells will play Moira Mayfair, Rowan’s cousin and mind reader, Levine will play Julien Mayfair, the father of Courtland (Harry Hamlin), and Birch will play Gifford Mayfair, a “tarot card reader and wannabe bohemian.”

In addition, AMC said it is developing a potential third series based on the Talamasca, a secret society featured in several of Rice’s novels. The show is written and executive produced by John Lee Hancock.

“The beloved world created by Anne Rice continues to be a rich and compelling source of stories and characters for us to explore, develop and bring to life on screen,” said AMC President of Entertainment Dan McDermott.
