Musician Shawn Mendes remembers his Canadian roots.

Over the weekend, the singer-songwriter took to Instagram to share videos of himself doing what fans called the “average Canadian activity” of sledding in the snow shirtless.

Mendes, 25, started the carousel with a video, filming himself running towards his house in the snow wearing only shorts. He then recorded himself sitting on a sled and being pushed down a hill by a friend.

“You can take the boy out of Canada,” he quotes from the caption.

Another photo in the carousel captured a cozy moment as he played guitar by the fire while another friend got ready for a snowshoeing excursion.

Fans loved the candid moments, with some joking that they were “terrified” of the cold seeping through their screens.

“But can I ask the boy out on a date,” the official MTV account commented in response to Mendes’ signature.

“The Floridian in me is terrified of this,” one person wrote, while another added, “How is it possible that I caught a cold watching this?”

“Why are you standing in the snow without a shirt… do you need hypothermia or something?” – asked a fan.

“What does my mom think I do before I get the flu,” one joked.

Many noted how happy the singer looked in her posts. “I’m so happy to see you heal,” someone said. “To me it’s everything you don’t even know,” another wrote.

Some also noted how cheeky Mendes was showing off, noting one line: “The part where he took off his abs… he knows what he’s doing.”

Mendes, from Pickering, Ontario, missed the star-studded 2024 Golden Globes ceremony on Sunday night.

He recently spoke about coping with “extreme anxiety” and “fear” by singing alone, from his heart, to his harmonium. He also shared his goals for the new year.

“If I sat down at my harmonium and allowed myself to sing everything that came out with complete confidence, it would often ease the pain…” Mendes captioned the video.

at first it was so difficult for me to allow myself to sing without needing perfection… I realized that there were only moments of bliss and euphoria from the “right” notes due to the “wrong” ones. The only reason I can sing in keys is because I learned to listen,” I shared.

“The biggest lesson for me this year has been to accept and welcome the imperfections in life… You don’t have to constantly change or fix things to feel good again because I know if I’m truly slowing down and listening when I need to. Badly. , there’s always something new to hear.”
