Sony will add a QR link system for sending invitations to PS5

Sony has announced that it will add a new system to the PlayStation 5 that allows us to invite our friends to multiplayer games.

This system, which will complement the current one, is designed in such a way that we can send a message through our smartphone or through social networks using a simple link or QR code.

The Japanese company explains that “this functionality is designed to complement existing methods for joining a session in a PS5 game and will work with any compatible PS5 game.”

Along with the link system will also be a new Discord widget that shows other players in the game or whether a session is active.

Finally, it was also revealed that in the future, our PlayStation Network profile will be able to be shared across messaging services via the PlayStation app – a feature that will arrive “in the coming months.”

“These are just some of the steps we’re taking to make it easier for you to connect with players online and participate in multiplayer sessions together. We are committed to continuing to innovate in this area and are listening to your feedback, so please share your thoughts with us.”

You can take a closer look at all of these new features and functionality in this PlayStation Blog post, which explains how they work and provides screenshots to see how they’ll appear in the interface.
