Teufel Boomster. A portable speaker with the performance of a bookshelf speaker.

Teufel, the German audio company, is bringing to market the third generation of its Boomster speakers, a device designed for transport but with the capabilities of fixed speakers in terms of power and sound quality.

Minimalist design

Boomster stands out among other speakers in the portable segment with itsYou have large dimensions (width 37 cm, height 18 and depth 14.8 cm) and due to the large weight, almost 4 kg (3.75 kg). To solve this last drawback, an ergonomic handle has been built into its body to make it easier to transport.

It comes in two variants: black and creamy white. Its rectangular appearance has been softened somewhat by its curved edges. It is made of hard plastic, while the wide front grille is made of metal. It is prepared to withstand splashes and also prevents dust from getting inside; what you cannot do is submerge it in water.

At the top are all the buttons: power, bass equalizer, changing input source, radio types, playback controls, three preset stations and volume. At the front, behind the grille, is a display that indicates the source, volume and station if used as a radio.

There is a folding antenna at the back, as well as two independent compartments with a soft plastic cover, which house the power connector and a 3.5 mm jack for connecting external audio in the first. And the second has two inputs, one micro-USB and another USB, which is used to charge other devices.

Battery and life

One of the few disadvantages of the Boomster is the need to use an external transformer to connect it to the mains. Once the battery is fully charged (this process takes just under three hours) Its autonomy at an average volume level reaches 19:00. There is a USB port on the back for charging other devices.

Sound quality

Behind its front grille are five speakers: two tweeters, two midrange speakers and a woofer. The set provides balanced sound, with high-quality high and mid frequencies and very powerful bass; in fact, at home it is impossible to turn it up to maximum. In the case of bass, they can be leveled within the range of -6 to +6 decibels.

As for working as a radio, in addition to classic FM broadcasting, Boomster receives stations in digital format via DAB+ (Digital UnUdio BRoadcasting).

Connectivity

Having a mini jack pIt can be connected to various audio sources and also via Bluetooth it can be connected to TVs, tablets, computers, mobile phones and even another Boomster and thus achieve stereo sound.. Its advantage is that it is multipoint, meaning it allows you to connect to two devices at the same time.

To control it, you can use the buttons built into its body, remote control or mobile phone. The latter option provides more features.

Its price is 340 euros., which, given its quality, is more than reasonable.
