Alberto Musalem of Bogota was appointed Federal Reserve Bank of San Luis. as the new President and CEO. In this role, he will represent the Eighth Federal Reserve District in formulating national monetary policy on the Federal Open Market Committee.
In this function will have 1,500 employees at the San Luis Federal Reserve. Its functions will begin on April 2, 2024.

This economist over 27 years of experience in the public and private sectors in the areas of economic policy, finance and markets. He most recently served as CEO, co-chief investment officer and co-founder of Evince Asset Management, an investment technology company.
it’s the same Executive Vice President and Senior Advisor to the President of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, There he also served as head of the department of comprehensive policy analysis, international relations and a member of the bank’s board.
His resume also states that he was managing director, partner and head of global research at Tudor Investment Corporation. Besides, it was economist at the International Monetary Fund, where he worked with various teams and national authorities on monetary policy issues.
He is an associate professor of finance at the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University. and serves on the boards of directors of the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation and Man Group. He will leave these last positions before heading the San Luis Federal Reserve.

Musalem has a PhD in economics. from the University of Pennsylvania and has Master’s degree in economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Before immigrating to the USA, The economist lived in Brazil and Argentina. “I am honored to serve as the next president of the St. Louis Federal Reserve and grateful for the opportunity to help develop a strong, resilient and inclusive economy,” the economist said.
