The Internet Reacts to Demi Lovato Performing “Heart Attack” at a Cardiovascular Event
Demi Lovato’s recent performance of “Heart Attack” received quite a bit of attention on social media.
On January 31, the beloved singer attended the American Heart Association Go Red for Women Red Dress Collection concert.
According to the organization’s website, the event “celebrates progress toward health equity while calling for renewed commitment to investing in women’s heart health in a trendy musical kickoff to American Heart Month.”
While the celebration went off without a hitch, with a star-studded guest list, it was Lovato’s mini-concert that caught the attention of pop culture enthusiasts, especially her performance of “Heart Attack.”
“Although my next song is about the strong feelings that come with falling in love, as well as heartbreak, discovering yourself, taking risks and not being afraid to do it again, this song has many parallels for me, my journey and a reminder of all of us in the room. how strong the mind, heart and body connection really is,” the Cool for the Summer artist explained while introducing the song, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Days after the celebration, video of Lovato’s aforementioned performance went viral on social media, with many sharing their unfiltered opinions on her song choice.
One person on X, formerly known as Twitter, wrote: “Demi Lovato sings “Heart Attack” at an event for women with cardiovascular problems. “GOODBYE.””
Another fan tweeted: “Demi Lovato singing Heart Attack at an AHA event on cardiovascular health is literally too SENSIBLE.”
Third fan added: “Demi Lovato needs to fire her entire team. Oh my God, NO ONE thought to stop her from singing “Heart Attack” at an American Heart Association event?!”
While many users mocked the singer’s performance, others felt it was in poor taste to include “Heart Attack” in her setlist, prompting Lovato’s rep to release a statement.
“She talked about the connection between the mind and the heart. It was a sensitive moment to protect the women in the room – and that’s why Demi was at the event,” they explained to the publication. Entertaining weekly.
“She opened with a beautiful introduction about why she chose this song and spoke to the audience about the connection between the mind and the heart. “It was actually a beautiful moment.”
