Google has just released the Android March 2024 update. We’re taking a look at all the changes and news related to it.

First Monday in March and new Android security update. Google just released the latest security patch, corresponding to March, along with a bulletin containing operating system vulnerabilities patched over the past few weeks. The March 2024 Android update is available for download on Google Pixel devices starting with the Pixel 5a (5G). All previously released models no longer have official support from the brand and therefore will not receive new security updates or Android versions.

Samsung has managed to get ahead of Google and has already updated some of its models with the March patch over the past few days. Specifically, these were the models of the series Samsung Galaxy S24 those who have already received the said update.

The March update for Pixel comes with a new feature containing 30 new tools.

On this occasion we are talking about Reduced Features Update. And especially important because, as Google itself has confirmed, it introduces nothing more than 30 new instruments productivity and advanced healthcare features.

Google has divided the list of changes into three different categoriesseparating news that reaches Pixel smartphonesthose that are directed to the series PixelWatchand those that land in Pixel ecosystem full. Let’s look at them all.

• News for Pixel smartphones:
  • Call filter improvements– Calls can now be filtered if the caller is silent. So, if the caller is not talking, a button with the text “Hello” will appear on the screen, which will allow the Assistant to start a conversation to find out the reason for the call. This feature will not be available in Spain at first.
  • 10-bit HDR support on Instagram– Pixel devices that support 10-bit HDR can now upload videos and photos to Instagram in this format.
  • The search circle is coming to Pixel 7– Next generation models will soon support volumetric search function.

• What’s new in Pixel Watch:
  • Pixel Watch 2 improvements over the original Pixel Watch– Features such as Rhythm Training, Heart Zone Training, Auto Pause, Breathing Guides for Relaxation or an updated user interface are now available on the first generation of Google Pixel Watch.
  • Public transport routes on Google Maps: A feature that lets you view public transit directions on Google Maps from your watch was announced during MWC 2024 in Barcelona and is now available on Pixel Watch.

• Pixel Ecosystem News:
  • Share part of your screen during video calls: When you make a video call through an app like Google Meet, you can choose how much of your screen you want to share during your presentation.
  • Faster pairing between devices– The way devices are paired has changed. Now, in the Connected Devices menu, you can view all previously configured Bluetooth devices for connection in a matter of seconds.
