The Martin Scorsese film that inspired young Austin Butler

When asked to recall details of the show, Butler said: “I went there with my dad when I was very little. We went to the Egyptian Theater and I saw it on the big screen for the first time. The amount of talent and inspiration I felt in these films, and especially in Mad bullbecause his dedication to this role inspires me endlessly.”

The actor added: “The freedom I see when I look at him, the subtlety he can have, and then the moments of explosion. And it’s incredibly dynamic. I can’t take my eyes off him. We may take it for granted today, but this is truly a first of its kind when filming is paused and it gains weight. So even the physical investment that he put into this film is really inspiring. And it’s just beautifully shot. I like music. I love black and white…”

Scorsese and Robert De Niro have collaborated on numerous occasions, including his latest feature film. Killers of the Flower Moon. However, there is something special about Mad bull it brings out the best in both of them. De Niro’s vulnerable performance as Jake LaMotta is beautifully enhanced by Scorsese’s direction, creating a surprisingly complex portrait of a flawed champion.
