This is the Oppo Reno11 F, a rugged and capable smartphone that is conquering the mid-range market.

A few months ago, some analysts questioned Oppo’s medium-term future in Europe. It was still the fourth largest mobile phone maker in the world, with a strong presence in many markets, not just Asia, but it seemed to have difficulty establishing itself as a brand on our continent.

And not for lack of Catalog interesting device. To the most advanced models, such as the series Find Xfolding Find flip N2 or an interesting series Reindeer added pillsheadphones, watch or groupsthey are all of more than solvent quality.

But the fact that Europe was excluded from the launch schedule latest premium phones contributed to Oppo no longer considering Europe a priority market.

At the recent Mobile World Congress Bingo Liu, CEO of Oppo Europe, was responsible for dispelling doubts. Oppo continues to focus on Europe and will continue to sell it in our stores. smartphones and other products.

A few weeks later, the new Enco Buds 2 headphones appeared and almost simultaneously the very interesting Oppo Reno11 F mobile phone, with which the technology company aims to strike a blow at the very competitive mid-range segment.

An offer that falls within a price range that may not yet make headlines in the media. about, ultra or plusbut that’s where most consumers undoubtedly make their purchases: mobile phones below 400 euros.

Oppo Reno11 F has the best qualities of the series. Reindeer and with everything a mid to high end user can expect from a mobile phone. Good cameras, screen, performance, smoothness, versatility…

It has everything you need on a daily basis, accompanied by features and safety features that guarantee durability (another of the recent battles among manufacturers) for at least four years in perfect condition, both the external elements of the phone and its software and battery.

A phone built to last

Before moving on to the detailed specifications of the Oppo Reno11 F, let’s note some data about its certified durability TÜV Rhineland. Some data was presented at the official press presentation of the device, which the brand held in the Italian city Courmayeurin the heart of the Alps and at the foot of Mont Blanc.

Over there Arne Herkelmannhead of product at Oppo, analyzed GfK research data, according to which we Europeans like to change our mobile phones little: 62% of users have used the same phone for more than two years and more than a third, 36%, have not changed it for more than three years.

Consequently, he emphasized, the company’s commitment to developing smartphones which provide better experience to users for a long time.

Four years of use

In our opinion, there are two sections that determine the service life of a device: on the one hand, software (Oppo offers two Android system updates and four years of security packages for Reno11 F) and on the other hand, battery.

Oppo guarantees that the Reno11 F’s battery will last a long time. four years without falling below 80% from the original capacity (a limit that can be checked in the settings of the device itself).

The battery has a capacity of 5000 mAh and is compatible with 65W SuperVooc fast charging. (full charge in 48 minutes).

This fast charging works even at 55°C and, most amazingly, at -20°. All this, Herkelmann explained, is thanks to a combination of hardware and software that redistributes heat to maintain the ideal temperature, making fast charging possible without damaging the battery’s chemistry.

For those four years of use, with the battery in ideal condition, the measure is taken to be that it is connected to the network. every day (which not all users do, so the duration may be longer).

These laboratory evaluations extend to other, less obvious parts of the device, such as insertions and deletions USB cable or press button buttons power and volume.

Oppo Reno11 F can withstand up to 20,000 USB cable insertions and disconnections, 100,000 volume button presses, and 200,000 power button presses. According to those calculations, those four years.

The phone also has a certificate. IP65 from dust and water (three minutes of water jet, 60 minutes of rain), it can withstand temperatures up to 65° and 90% humidity, and during the presentation a video recorded by the company was shown in which the car drove over a smartphone without making a scratch.

Oppo Reno11 F 5G analysis

Obviously, we didn’t have the phone for four years to test its durability, and we didn’t dare drive a car over it, but there are plenty of other things about the Oppo Reno11 F that we were able to test.

First of all, let’s start with your design. Thanks to its dimensions and weight (screen 6.7 inches, thickness 7.54 mm, weight 177 grams), it is very convenient both to use and to carry in your pocket.

Its outer part is made of polycarbonate and is available in two finishesPalm Green and Ocean Blue, both inspired by what the brand calls a natural design aesthetic, which in the first case aims to resemble a forest, and in the second, waves.

Option blue, which we tested, has a curious magnetic particle design that uses magnetic ink to create 3D textures. This not only allows it to change depending on how light hits it, but also makes each device a unique product with a glass-like polish.

Both finishes are produced during the design process. Oppo Glowin which tiny crystals are etched at a microscopic level to create a shiny, soft and smooth surface.

Screen

Oppo Reno11 F installs screen 6.7-inch Amoled display without frame, with soda 120 Hz. It has an ultra-thin 1.47mm bezel on each side and a screen-to-body ratio of 93.4%.

The screen is of very good quality, displaying over 1 billion colors, a maximum brightness of 1100 nits, HDR10+ certification and eye protection such as 2160 Hz PWM and dimming below 90 nits.

Performance, system, battery

For this device, Oppo chose MediaTek Dimensity 7050 processor. 6nm, which, although not top-notch (let’s not forget the price of this phone), works very well and we never noticed it faltering. Neither in multitasking, nor in 4K media playback, recording or video games.

He has 256 GB storage space, expandable via microSD card up to 2TB, and 8 GB RAMwhich, if necessary, can be expanded up to 8 GB using virtual RAM.

Reno11 F comes with the latest version of Oppo’s customization layer. ColorOS 14 (on Android 14) with features like file dock (to save images and files by dragging and dropping between applications), smart touch (captures images, texts and identifies text in screenshot) or newest version Smart image mattingto cut out parts of a photo that we can transfer to other applications for editing, saving or publishing.

A very flexible and lightweight system that works perfectly and also includes a computer system. Trinity Enginewhich improves smoothness and performance optimization.

On battery We talked in detail above, so here we will only note that the charging time is in line with the specifications and that thanks to the large capacity and the optimizations that Oppo does, there is no need to connect the phone every day, even with intensive use.

Cameras

We left the photo section for last, one of the highlights of any event. smartphone and also this Reno11 F.

Oppo is betting on this phone 32 MP front camera capable of recording 4K video and triple rear camera with Main lens 64 megapixels (which also records 4K), ultra-wide-angle (8 MP and 112° field of view) and 2 MP macro.

Photos and videos taken with the Reno11 F, even without changing the settings too much, are very good quality, sharp and with a lot of detail (even in low light conditions thanks to the proprietary Intelligent Night Mode).

(By the way, the opportunity to take combat photosas Oppo advertises, very good for those whose pulse is not too hard, as in our case).

Among the modes included in the camera software are portrait modethanks to its proprietary Portrait Expert Engine, which combines advanced facial recognition, people recognition and skin tone protection to deliver not only high-quality, but also natural-looking results.

Success prosecution photos extends to the rest of the Reno11 F’s modes, which has an AI-powered retouching algorithm that achieves just that, retouching what’s needed without the over-the-top and unnatural effect we’ve seen from other manufacturers.

Artificial intelligence

For now, Oppo has not included in this device the artificial intelligence features that some of the premium models it sells in China have and that other manufacturers already offer in Europe.

But they will not keep you waiting, both for this Reno11 F and for their other phones. He promoted it Arne Herkelmann at a presentation in the Alps and the company itself confirmed this a few days later at Google Cloud Next 2024.

Both Oppo and OnePlus will integrate Google’s Gemini AI model over the course of this year, and the Reno11 F will also receive Oppo’s AI Eraser tool in the coming months, one of many that the company plans to introduce in the short term. market, including the European one.
