Why 2024 is a Leap Year – Telemundo New York (47)

For many, this is a meaningless annual activity. But when midnight hits, it’s a clean slate for a new round of resolutions.

There are 366 days ahead, because 2024 is a leap year, to finally achieve long-awaited goals, fulfill aspirations and be firm in all New Year’s resolutions..

Specifically, February 2024 will have 29 days.

“As humans, we are ambitious creatures,” said Omid Fotuhi, a social psychologist and motivation and performance researcher.

“The fact that we have goals, the fact that we want to set goals for ourselves, is nothing more than a manifestation of this internal and almost universal desire to want to expand, achieve, expand and grow,” added Fotuhi, director on innovations in training Western Union. Governors of university laboratories and an adjunct researcher at the University of Pittsburgh.

“New Year’s resolutions are one way to do this,” he noted. “There is something very liberating about starting from scratch. Imagine starting from scratch. Everything is possible”.

Tim Williams used to give a set of solutions: lose weight, drink less, exercise more, blah, blah, blah.

Now it doesn’t even bother him.

Carla Valeria Silva de Santos, a Brazilian living in Florida, wants to learn to play the guitar. Since his native language is Portuguese, he wants to learn Spanish and improve his English.

With any decision, he noted, the ultimate goal is to “improve your life and find peace with yourself.”

Josh Moore, another Fort Lauderdale resident, sees things in the spirit of natural philosopher Sir Isaac Newton and physics. For every action there must be an equal reaction.

“If you eat a lot of candy or a lot of dessert at a party, go for a run,” he said, pausing his run with his dog.

He noted that too many people are too soft on themselves: “You have to really be responsible.”

Solutions don’t have to be big, grandiose, or overly ambitious.Fotuhi added.

And even if they do, he noted that their value should not be determined solely by achievements, but should also be measured by what a person becomes by trying to improve himself.

“Goals just keep you moving forward,” Fotuhi said. “If they don’t, then maybe the goal isn’t right for you.”

Firefighters explain the biggest risks when using fireworks and what to do in an emergency.

In other words, it’s time to redefine goals and expectations, he said, adding that some people hold on to outdated goals for too long.

“If you’re setting a goal that’s too ambitious and doesn’t get you excited about it and doesn’t make you believe it’s possible, then maybe you should consider a goal that’s a little more achievable: start with 5 miles for example, and then increase to 10,” he added.
