Saoirse Ronan reveals she was supposed to have a cameo role in ‘Barbie’

Having established herself as an incredibly versatile actress, Saoirse Ronan can devote herself to any genre.

However, the Irish cast in the Barbie movie could double in size (along with Nicola Coughlan’s role) if it works out, as Ronan revealed that she was actually in line for a cameo role in Greta Gerwig’s film.

The Carlow-raised actress was talking to Variety about her upcoming film The Outrun when the topic of working with Greta Gerwig came up again following their collaboration on Lady Bird.

Ronan confirmed Timothée Chalamet’s previous comments that they were both expected to make cameos in last year’s hit film, saying she was supposed to be Weird Barbie alongside Kate McKinnon.

“I don’t know what he was going to be, but I was definitely going to be Weird Barbie,” she said. “I don’t know how to take this. I would be with Kate McKinnon and it would be great. “I had a scene, but I never got to do it, and it wasn’t in the movie.”

She added that she couldn’t remember what the scene was supposed to be, “but it was weird. “I think I would be the weird girl who talked to herself, always had her dog with her, always talked to the dog and didn’t look at anyone.”

There is always a sequel if it happens…
