The cast of “Aquamarine”: where are the stars of the film now?
In 2006, fans were introduced to modern times. Mermaid-Inspired story when Aquamarine hit theaters. Based on the young adult novel of the same name Alice Hoffmanstarred in a fan-favorite film Sara Paxton, Emma Roberts, Jojo, Jake McDorman, Ariel Kebbel And Tammin Sursok.
The film tells the story of a mermaid named Aquamarine, who is washed ashore during a storm to prove to her father that true love exists. Having learned her secret, two best friends – Claire and Hayley – help her win over the handsome rescuer. Things got pretty complicated during the night when Aquamarine lost her human legs and turned back into a fish. At the end of the film, the three girls prove that true love does not exist through seeking inferiority, but between friends. Aquamarine returns to the sea with plans to constantly visit her friends on land.
Aquamarine was the first major film role for Emma, who was previously known as a Nickelodeon star. After the release of this film, she received a lot of famous roles that fans still watch. This also marked JoJo’s debut film. Before the main role, she was known as just a singer.
“I’ve actually been acting since I was 6 years old, doing professional theater and stuff like that in my hometown of Massachusetts,” she told MTV in 2006. “So acting was nothing new to me. But as far as the movie goes, it was new and these girls are so professional and everyone was so great to work with.”
During the same MTV interview, Sarah revealed that she wore her mermaid tale while filming the movie. “The first time I put on a ponytail, it was really weird because a ponytail weighs like 100 pounds or something, it’s really heavy,” the actress recalls. “So five guys on a stretcher had to carry me around. The first time I was in full costume and they carried me out on a stretcher, I felt like a princess. Everyone applauded me, I raised my hand up, and everyone was like, “Uh-huh!” and then they threw me into the pool like a fish.”
