Uribes proposes to Congress to remove Rocha from office
The President of the Higher Sports Council, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, at his own request, appeared before the Congressional Commission on Education, Training and Sports to provide more details on the next decisions the body plans to take following the TAD decision. on the opening of a case of sanctions against Pedro Rocha (the only pre-announced candidate for the post of President of the Spanish Football Federation) and the remaining members of the RFEF Governing Commission. As directed by the Sports Administrative Court itself, the CSD will request additional information from the RFEF to determine whether the commission has rational indications of possible violations or not.
In his speech, Uribes thus announced that the CSD would temporarily suspend the former President of the Management Commission and the only candidate for the presidency of the RFEF: “Regarding the RFEF, in recent days I have reported that we are in constant contact with FIFA. In these conversations, I conveyed to the organization our concerns and our determination to ensure that a reputational crisis such as the one occurring never occurs again. The rule of law does work and can serve to punish corruption. The government is interested in getting to the bottom of the investigation and clarifying responsibility. After the TAD decision, I am going to convene the board of directors to make a decision. The Federation must abandon behavior that embarrasses us all. Spanish football deserves to be governed by integrity. Firmness within the law.”
The central bank will make a “consistent decision”

Uribes recalled that “a procedure is now opening in which the Management Commission” of the RFEF and “Mr. Rocha himself will be able to defend himself, justify the reasons why they made the decisions.” “The person who determines whether they are serious or not is the TAD, which is what it is for.”, is a body included in our law. What we are experiencing is a situation of serious anomaly. because of criminal charges and now because of the decision to initiate disciplinary proceedings, which the TAD actually classifies as very serious,” he lamented.
Finally, Uribes reiterated that he would “absolutely” not rule out hosting the 2030 World Cup in Spain due to these latest developments. “I communicate with FIFA almost every day, I believe that there has never been such flexible communication, and they are confident that Spain is a country that knows how to organize and that we do it well.”, he defended himself. “The Prime Minister confirmed this yesterday and I say again that the World Cup is not in danger, on the contrary, we should be very proud that Spain is going to lead this World Cup organization in 2030,” he concluded. .
