Reason why WhatsApp may block your account

It’s still nothing more than a tool in development, but Meta has gone one step further to protect its users. Following the numerous new features that WhatsApp has included in recent weeks, such as a redesign of the interface, the messaging app has begun developing a tool with which it intends to limit the sending of messages to accounts that violate its terms of use, in particular those who sends spam and bulk or automated messages. This feature is called “account restriction” and is a temporary ban system where users will not be able to start new conversations for a certain period of time for violating the terms of use.

According to WABetaInfo, a newspaper that specializes in the app, “restricted users will still be able to receive and reply to messages from existing chats and groups.” Moreover, “by limiting accounts rather than banning them completely, WhatsApp gives users the opportunity to correct their behavior without completely losing access to their data.”

Thus, WhatsApp aims to penalize users for misuse of the app in order to protect users by eliminating “problematic behavior” without banning users from using WhatsApp permanently.

Although this is still only a programmable tool, this new feature is expected to reach general use in a future update, and beta users are already testing it.
